How our nappy search started
When our second daughter was born in May 2019, there was this question again: what nappies will we use?
We decided to start with Huggies for the newborn phase and bought a couple of boxes. However, we were not as impressed as previously with Huggies.
We experienced leaks, and our babies’ skin experienced irritation on the skin. So very soon, our search to change nappy brands continued.
Then we came across Rascal + Friends Premium Nappies.
If you are looking to buy premium nappies for a fair price, with fewer nasties and a sustainable focus, perhaps Rascal + friends nappies are for you. The nappies are available in Coles supermarket in Australia, and they launched their brand internationally as well.
What is the story behind Rascal + Friends Nappies?
Rascal and friend nappies are created by a mum who was desperate to find good quality nappies.
Her third son experienced severe eczema, so the nappy had to be without nasties. Furthermore, the nappies had to be affordable, perform great, and look cute as well.
Mother Louise, a mum of 4 boys now, tested hundreds of designs and eventually settled on the premium Rascal + Friends disposable nappies as in the shop available today. Rascal and friends is a New Zealand brand; however, the brand developed into an international brand and is available in many countries over the world now.

Where are Rascal + Friends nappies made from?
The materials in Rascal + Friends nappies are chosen with great care and collected worldwide. Materials including superabsorbent content such as fluff pulp, polypropylene non-woven fabrics, polyethylene film, elastic and fastening equipment.
The material and manufacturing process happens under stringent guidelines to ensure safety and quality control. One of the great features of Rascal+Friends nappies is that packaging can recycle with soft plastics.
Rascal + Friends is a New Zealand owned brand, but they get manufactured in China to keep the price of the nappies as affordable a possible.
Are there really no nasties?
However, Rascal + Friends source their nappy contents with great care, fewer chemicals and fewer plastics. So let’s come to terms that ‘no nasties’ may not be entirely accurate as the nappies are not biodegradable or compostable, right?
Don’t get me wrong; I am not here to talk Rascal Friend down, but I like to clarify that even though this brand makes sustainable improvements, it is not transparent how sustainable this effort is.
We love Rascal Fiends and their nappies but let’s be transparent and upfront. Even though these nappies are great, they will still contain non-natural elements and are not categorised as biodegradable or compostable. But, still compared to regular disposable nappies, Rascal + Friends can be a more sustainable choice.
What futures do Rascal + Friends Promise, and do they deliver?
Are Rascal + Friends a premium qualtiy nappy?
Yes, and more, we would say. We are very impressed with Rascal + Friends nappies, and we believe they are great value for money compared to other brands.
Rascal + Friend nappies most definitely deliver, and the product is excellent, and we would recommend Rascal + Friends nappies to everybody considering giving them a go.
Big Congratulations to Louise for delivering such an excellent product for us to use on the market, much appreciated.
Will we use Rascal & Friends moving forwards?
Even though we think Rascal+Friends is an excellent performing nappy, the answer is no. Not because we don’t love Rascal & Friends premium, but simply because our sustainable goals have changed over time.
We have recently started trying some other nappy brands as we have gained interest in following a more sustainable lifestyle. Even though we love Rascal & Friends and promise no nasties, we know that is not entirely true, and there are disposables available, leaving a less environmental footprint.
Are Rascal+Friends nappies worth it?
When we talk about performance, yes, Rascal+Friends is a fantastic nappy we would recommend to anyone; yet when you are looking for more sustainable disposable like we do at this stage, there are great nappies to consider.
At this stage, we mainly use reusable pea pod cloth nappies for daytime, but for night time we do look for a disposable nappy that is more sustainable.
Lately, we learned that Rascal & Friends launched an Eco nappy now that suppose to be more sustainable, and this would be one of the nappies we are on the list to trial.
Underneath, we share some links to other eco nappy reviews that can be worth checking out if you are interested in trialling more sustainable disposables than regular rascal+Friends.
